The biggest event of the Summer in Livorno is called Effetto Venezia (Venice Effect). This fun festival filled with music, culture, art and entertainment takes place right in the heart of the city in one of the most characteristic neighborhoods of Livorno: the quarter Venezia Nuova (New Venice). The area consisting of many canals and bridges was constructed in the 17th century to favor commerce and facilitate transportation of goods to and from the harbor.
Street performances will take place at various locations throughout the area. Every evening the festival will be inaugurated by a musical band (Naval Academy Band, Banda Folgore Parachute Brigade, Municipal Band of Livorno, SVS Banda) who will perform wandering through the streets of the neighborhood.
On the main stage at the Old Fortress (Fortezza Vecchia) numerous musical and theatrical performances like the Summer Talent Show, The Joyful Gospel Ensemble, Dance, Paolo Simoni in concert, Contrabassa Solo and Venezia Barocca and Romantic Paris.
The churches of St. Catherine and St. Ferdinand host choral concerts and musical evenings with classical music and jazz. Unusual and not to be missed is “Cristallofonia” concert for musical glasses with Robert Tiso. Performing classical and modern musical masterpieces using only crystal glasses as his instrument. Every evening in the courtyard of Palazzo Huigens (via Borra).
Other events and activities featured during the festival are the Floating Garden, skateboarding, pump track, tree climbing, art exhibitions, beer tastings, street food, boat trip around the canals, circus and many activities for children.

How to get to the street festival in Livorno
If you arrive by car, you can park for free at the P5 parking near the Modigliani Forum in via Nelusco Giachini. A free shuttle bus will bring you to the city center. The bus also stops at the train station.
Shuttle bus timetable:
July 27 and July 31 from 6.30 pm til 1.00 am;
July 28 from 6.30 pm til 2.00 am;
July 29 and July 30 from 6.30 pm til 3.00 am;
The bus leaves every 15 minutes.
